There are moments that remind us just how bright Atlanta’s future can be—and the 2025 Diamond Recognition Gala was one of those unforgettable nights. This year’s event wasn’t just a celebration; it was a powerful affirmation of what happens when young women are given the support and recognition they deserve.
Honoring the Next Generation
The highlight of the evening was awarding scholarships to nine extraordinary young women, each of whom has demonstrated excellence in leadership, academics, and service to their communities. Please join me in congratulating:
- Ajayla Johnson
- Ameah Jackson
- Aubrey Jones
- Cassidy Francis
- Cynthia Washington
- Destiny Dobbs
- Paige Jones
- Quariyana Ferguson
- Simone Corbin
These young women are more than achievers—they are trailblazers whose dedication and vision inspire everyone around them. Their futures are bright, and their commitment to excellence sets a shining example for their peers.
Celebrating Community Leaders
The gala also recognized the achievements of women who are leading the way in Atlanta:
- Congresswoman Nikema Williams was named 2025 Woman of Excellence for her tireless advocacy and leadership.
- Rosalyn Merrick, President & CEO of Atlanta Habitat for Humanity, was honored for her transformative work in our communities.
- RedDrop, accepted by co-founders Dana Roberts and Dr. Monica Williams, was named 2025 Woman of Excellence Business of the Year.
- Temple Lester received the I AM Award, inspiring everyone with her story and impact.

A Night to Remember
The energy and elegance of the evening were elevated by the talents of Somalia and the B. Cortland Music Experience. Our dynamic Mistress of Ceremony, Tyisha Fernandez, and GOE Ambassador Amirah Gibson, our Co-Mistress of Ceremony, guided the program with grace and joy. Behind the scenes, the Gala Event Committee, Soiree Girls, and CharPour Events brought the vision to life with creativity and dedication.
None of this would be possible without the generous support of sponsors like The Schneider Foundation, Delta Community Credit Union, and Delta Dental. Their commitment helps ensure that Girls of Excellence continues to make a difference year after year.
Why Girls of Excellence Matters
Programs like Girls of Excellence are more than just annual celebrations—they are lifelines for Atlanta’s young women. In a world where girls often face unique and daunting challenges, Girls of Excellence provides mentorship, resources, and a supportive community that empowers them to dream boldly and achieve fearlessly.
The Real-World Impact
- Academic Success: By rewarding academic achievements and providing scholarships, the program opens doors to higher education and lifelong learning.
- Leadership Growth: Through mentorship and real-world experiences, participants learn to lead with confidence and integrity.
- Community Engagement: Girls are encouraged to serve and uplift their neighborhoods, fostering pride and responsibility.
- Role Models: Honoring accomplished women and businesses gives young women tangible examples of what’s possible.
When we invest in young women, we invest in the future of Atlanta. The ripple effect of their success will be felt in our schools, businesses, and communities for years to come. Girls of Excellence is not just about celebrating achievements—it’s about building a brighter, more inclusive future for all.
Congratulations to all the honorees. Your excellence lights the way for others to follow—and your stories are just beginning.
